THE HORROR ICONS (1971 – 1996) – My Original Poster Design

Iconic Horror Movie Villains from 1971 thru to 1996.

I like working on long-term project based drawings. Gives me something to look forward to when I dive into it every night. Usually when I sketch or paint something it takes me a few hours and then it’s done. So I’ve been giving myself longer, bigger projects to work on that I can take my time on and watch it come together over a period of time. I am very pleased with the finished piece and I have sold a few on my Etsy page as well! I’m very happy with the results and the reception since unveiling it! It took me about 5 weeks and 85 hours to complete in total. I was working on it an hour or two here or an hour or two there, and eventually it was finished. The fun part was really deciding who would be included in the piece! I saved images of my progress as I was going along and I made this gif showing the progression of the piece.

I’ve been a huge horror movie fan since I was 8 years old. So I wanted to put together a poster of sorts of all of my favorites growing up. Originally, my concept was going to be 100 Years of Horror – 1915 to 2015 and showcasing the biggest and baddest horror movie monsters of the past century, but I was starting to feel burnt out the further along I was getting with this picture and decided to stop here (that doesn’t mean I wont continue it in the future). This was a lot of fun to do, and I already have other poster collages in mind for future sketches, particularly a 1920’s to 60’s Horror and Sci Fi design that I think will be pretty groovy.

If you would like to see more of my artwork (which I hope you do!) please check out my Deviant Art gallery! Thanks!

So dear followers I challenge you! Do you think that you can name all of the characters in this poster, and what movie they are from?
